Two cats share my apartment. Mr. Widgeon, a Maine Coon, has lived with me since 1987. He was abandoned when just a few weeks old, and wandered into our apartment building one Friday afternoon. I was travelling on business over the weekend, and a friend looked after him until I returned. Needless to say, it was love at first sight, and he has been with me ever since.
Mr. Staples is a short-haired American Tabby
and White. He joined us shortly after we lost Miss Korkie to cancer. He is
a well travelled cat, and has obviously seen much of life, including some
of the more harrowing episodes. He has come to appreciate the "laid-back"
life-style of living in New Hampshire, and enjoys long conversations with
his friend and "buddy", Mr. Widgeon.
Miss Korkie was a short-haired American Tabby,
and lived with us from 1988 until late 1999. She came from a pet-shop, was
of uncertain pedigree, but the fact that she had royal blood flowing in
her veins was quite obvious from her demeanour which demonstrates that she
was quite used to dealing with servants. She lost the battle with cancer
late in 1999, and she is still sadly missed...
